Sustainability at The ASLA 2024 EXPO
Partnership is key to becoming more sustainable, and we couldn’t do what we do without the support of our exhibitors and partners. Together we can increase the positive contributions of the Conference on Landscape Architecture.
We invite you to be active participants in this crucial endeavor. Together, we can make a substantial impact.
There are four key ways in which you can support and contribute to ASLA climate action goals, demonstrating your commitment to a more sustainable and resilient future for our community and planet. Let’s join hands to make a difference, one step at a time.
Pledge to Measure and Do Better.
Commit to reducing your impact at ASLA by joining the Exhibitor Climate Commitment.
Simple actions like waste reduction, water and energy conservation, and sustainable procurement can have a big impact when multiplied across exhibitors. Be sure to consult with Freeman on your expo and booth materials and logistics.
Each exhibiting company that signs on to the commitment and completes the Impact Assessment Survey by September 30 will be recognized in the conference mobile app with the official sustainability icon.
Our goal is to achieve 100% participation from ASLA Exhibitors. Complete the Impact Assessment and Make your pledge here.
Offset Your Carbon Emissions
Offset your carbon emissions through ASLA partner, National Indian Carbon Coalition.
ASLA has partnered with the National Indian Carbon Coalition (NICC), an Indigenous carbon innovator, working with the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in Minnesota to preserve and improve Tribal Forests. This partnership supports the cultural empowerment and climate equity goals outlined in the ASLA Climate Action Plan and promotes natural climate solutions through Improved Forest Management. 100% of contributions will be used to purchase third-party verified offsets from NICC, registered with the American Carbon Registry. The lead sponsor of the ASLA 2024 Conference carbon offset program is Bartlett Tree Experts.
Our goal is to achieve 100% participation from ASLA Exhibitors, contributing a minimum of three carbon offsets. Let’s Go Team!
Exhibitors that would like to offset their emissions at the ASLA 2023 Conference can contribute via this contribution form.
Take a Minute to Review and Prepare …
ASLA’s Climate Action Committee and Corporate Member Committee convened to create a Conversation Guide that will be released to landscape architects prior to their arrival in Washington DC.
This guide can help landscape architects talk to industry partners about ways to advance collective climate and biodiversity goals.
Many of the conference attendees will use this tool while in conversation with you and your exhibit booth staff.
We encourage you to share this guide with your team in advance so they can be prepared for the conversation.
Your Donation has a Purpose! Let’s Upcycle Together…
Do you wish to donate products from your 2024 exhibit booth to help the local community of Greater Washington? ASLA is partnering with the Northern Virginia Habitat for Humanity ReStore to support exhibitor donations.
The ReStore is a home improvement outlet open to the public where guests can shop for quality donated home furnishings, furniture, and building supplies at a fraction of the original cost. All revenue from the retail store supports building, rehabbing, and repairing homes for local families.
If you choose to donate materials, please register your donation in advance.
You will be required to label each item you are donating prior to leaving the exhibit floor. Forms will be made available in the ASLA Exhibitor Lounge during EXPO hours.
